Governor Hochul: Invest in Community Health Centers

Strengthening Community Health Centers

New York's 900 community health centers provide high quality care to everyone, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. But the healthcare of 2.5 million New Yorkers who rely on CHCs, that’s one in every eight, is in jeopardy.

CHCs are already being forced to close their doors and reduce hours due to extreme financial hardship caused by more than 25 years of New York State's underinvestment. CHCs are only reimbursed for their services by the State at a rate of 70 cents on the dollar. This rate is based on service costs from 1999/2000 and hasn't been updated since.

The Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) is leading the fight to ensure community health centers can sustain high-quality, accessible care. By advocating for fair reimbursement rates and adequate investments, we can strengthen the health care safety net and protect the essential services that countless New Yorkers rely on.

New Yorkers count on community health centers. Now, we're asking lawmakers to ensure we can continue to meet that need. Join us in calling on Governor Kathy Hochul and state legislators to invest in the future of community-based care.
